FxItem
Object Fx Management.
Overview
FxItem is a component to simplify the managing of effects (such as sounds or particle systems) when you want to spawn or kill an object, particularly when using object pools. For example, when a missile explodes, the smoke particle system must be un-parented, the missile is then disabled while the particles fade out, then the particle system is returned to the missile object before releasing it back to the pool. FxItem handles this automatically, and is useful for bullets and hit effects, unit and character effects, and auras that are applied to an object. This is especially useful for a fire effect applied to another unit that is killed - the fire effect ending must be triggered early and un-parented while it fades. |
